An Additional Use for a Sling?!

My eldest daughter has just had her 5th birthday, so I currently have a five year old and a five week old!!

My eldest's favourite film is Tangled, the Disney film of Rapunzel. Her favourite use of my pink and purple Sabe  is to tie it round her waist and pretend it's her hair - I was quite impressed with the idea actually! There is lot of "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair....." followed by the sling being flung down the stairs or swinging from it on the stair post!

She even entered a fancy dress competition in our village as Rapunzel and I have to say that I think she was robbed of a prize - a ballerina and a fireman won - some people just don't appreciate creativity (obvs I'm biased, lol!).

After being unable to decide on the colour of the sling I wanted from Sabe for my new squish, as you know in my last post I had eventually decided on pink and purple, however with the gorgeous weather we've been having, I just couldn't resist buying the red spotted with apple too as it's so summery and fun. I used the 20% (and free local delivery) discount voucher everyone who attended the Face of Sabe photoshoot received. It arrived yesterday and I've worn it on the 2 school runs since.....and I was finally spotted on a FB sling group - about time, ha ha!! Thank you to my "spotter", you genuinely made my day!

For anyone wondering what Bubba and I are wearing when babywearing in this lush heat, then I'm favouring just a nappy for her and a vest top for me. On the morning school run, I don't even put her in a hat, as I feel for the 15 minutes we're out, the sun isn't strong enough to worry. For the afternoon school pick up, then it's a must, but then I try to gather the fabric up a little bit more across her back to allow some air in.

I am friends with the owner of the company. We met when I was asked through a mutual friend to model for the initial advertising shots when the company launched in 2009. I was a babywearer already and was really impressed with the products and proceeded to use the stretchy Sa-Be daily until my daughter was 18 months old and on several occasions until she was 3 years old.
All the opinions about the SaBe slings in my blog are my own, but any factual information such as pricing, availability, safety testing, etc is checked with the company and accurate at the time of publishing the post.

Busy week babywearing!

I've had a super busy babywearing few days; aside from the usual school run trips with sling, there has also been the photoshoot for the face of Sa-Be competition.  It went really well with over 100 people attending across the 2 days with their children modelling the bibs and some wearing the slings too. The photos were available to buy at very reasonable prices and the bibs and slings were for sale at a discounted price as a thank you for those who took part.

I used the bus to reach the venue and it was the first time I'd used the sling with Bubba 2 on public transport. It was fab being able to sit where I wanted and not wondering if I'd need to wait for the next bus, if 2 prams where already on, etc!!

At the shoot I finally made my colour choice and went with the pink and purple sling and I'm really happy with it. The slings are all folded into themselves for packaging and delivery and is a good way to store them, although as I use mine so frequently, it's generally just thrown over the coat stand in my hallway!
Excuse the double chin - self portraits are tricky!!

I got to chat with other babywearers at the shoot too and I spent a lovely few hours getting to know them better and catching up. With my latest addition, I'll be seeing a lot more of them around and I look forward to it. There were also some people who hadn't considered slings before and who had just come along for their child to model the bibs.....but I saw several trying out the slings and keeping them on whilst eating their lunch - hands free, whilst it was still warm!! A muslin cloth over the sling works wonders to protect against spillage!! I imagine a few additional sling sales were made.

Thursday afternoon was my elder daughter's school summer fayre, so after a quick trick to the park before it began and with the squish needing a feed, my new pink and purple sling provided excellent breastfeeding cover too! Bonus! I had a quick chat with another mum at the fayre who had used a Sa-be with her youngest and she said she was keeping it, just in case....perhaps another Sa-Be babywearer to join me in the future in my village!

I've also been tagged in a photo on FB of one of my daughter's school friends carrying her doll in a sling "just like my friend's mummy"! I feel proud! A great few days.....
